StudyCrest

Terms of Use

Last updated: 27 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Max, an independent developer in Sydney, Australia ("we", "us"), who makes StudyCrest. They cover the StudyCrest app, the StudyCrest web app and the online service behind them, including your account, syncing your notes, the AI features, StudyCrest Pro and Max, and study groups. By creating an account or using StudyCrest, you agree to them. If you're under 18, please read them with a parent or guardian, who agrees to them on your behalf.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

The app licence

If you got StudyCrest from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. It covers your licence to install and use the app on your devices. These terms add the rules for the StudyCrest service. These terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are responsible for StudyCrest and its support.

Your account

Your work

Your notes, documents and answers belong to you. We store them in your account so they sync between your devices. You give us permission to store, copy and process your work only as needed to run StudyCrest for you: to sync and back it up, to send it to our AI provider when you use an AI feature, and to show what you share to your study group. You can stop at any time by deleting the work or your account.

Only upload things you're allowed to use. Test notices, past papers and worksheets from your school are fine for your own study, but don't share material in a study group if you don't have permission to share it.

The AI features

StudyCrest uses AI (Claude, made by Anthropic) to check working, explain mistakes, give hints, mark work, estimate how AI-like writing reads, suggest rewrites and predict practice tests. AI can be wrong. In particular:

StudyCrest is a study aid, not a replacement for your teachers, and nothing in it is professional advice. If the AI notices something that suggests you might not be safe, StudyCrest shows support information instead of feedback.

Doing your own work

StudyCrest is there to help you learn. You're responsible for following your school's or university's rules about AI and academic integrity, including whether you may use the AI checker, the rewrite tool or AI feedback on assessed work. Don't hand in AI-generated or AI-rewritten work as your own where that isn't allowed. We're not responsible for the result if you break those rules.

Study groups and behaving well

Study groups are private and invite-only. When you use them, or StudyCrest generally, don't:

Group owners can remove members and shared items, and anyone can report a group. We review reports and may remove content, close groups or suspend accounts that break these rules.

Free plan, StudyCrest Pro and StudyCrest Max

Free plan. The free plan includes a limited number of AI requests each week (currently 10, resetting each Monday in your time zone). Some features, such as marking, the AI checker, the rewrite tool and Test Predictor, need StudyCrest Pro or Max.

Deep and Quick checks. Paid plans use two AI models. Deep checks use our most thorough model. Quick checks use a faster model; they're still full checks, but may catch less in long or difficult working.

Both are auto-renewing subscriptions, paid monthly or yearly. You can buy them in the App Store or on the StudyCrest website, and they work on every device you sign in to. Before you buy, you'll see the price and any free trial. You can move from Pro to Max at any time; the App Store or Stripe works out any difference in price.

If you subscribe in the App Store:

If you subscribe on the website:

Both: paid plans have fair-use limits so the service stays fast for everyone. Currently Pro allows 150 manual AI requests and 1,000 automatic checks a day; Max allows 300 manual AI requests and 1,000 automatic checks a day, with up to 150 Deep checks a day (then Quick checks until midnight). All accounts are limited to 12 AI requests a minute.

We may change prices or what's included. We'll tell you before a price increase affects your subscription (Apple tells you for App Store subscriptions), and you can cancel before it applies. If we give you free Pro or Max access (for example as a tester), we can end it at any time.

Changes and availability

We're always improving StudyCrest, so features may change, be added or be removed. We try to keep StudyCrest running smoothly, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during updates or if a service we rely on has problems. Your devices keep a copy of your notes, so you can keep writing offline or when the AI is unavailable, and changes sync when you're back online. Export important work as well, so you have your own copy.

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using StudyCrest after that, the new terms apply.

Ending your account

You can stop using StudyCrest and delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or if the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we'll tell you first.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, or other laws that can't be excluded. Apart from those rights, StudyCrest is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows:

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia. If there's a dispute, please contact us first so we can try to sort it out. If it can't be resolved, the courts of New South Wales will decide it, but if you live somewhere else, you keep any rights your local law gives you.
